Now based in Seattle, Chloë Rain blends her academic and artistic training with her corporate experience into a coaching style aimed at facilitating clients in designing a life. Part left-brain logic, part right-brain creativity, Chloë Rain is like an intermediary who helps her clients conceive of a lifestyle congruent with their values and goals then gets them to implement making it happen.

The basis of her work goes beyond tactics however. What she is adept at doing is working with why clients sabotage their best laid plans. In that, she has a distinct approach from the “just do it” crowd of the mainstream life coaching world. It is in this sense that Rain describes herself as a Human Experience Artist, Nostalgia Poet and Navigator of Lost Souls. Her mission statement reflects this:

Chloë works with conscious individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, and dissatisfaction in life, who are seeking a spiritual answer to what ails them. You may have tried everything and followed all the rules, and yet you feel like your life was meant for something more. Chloë is a natural intuitive, professionally trained, and highly skilled in provoking massive transformation in those seeking permanent change, a more integrated spiritual relationship to money, creativity, and personal freedom.

Tell me what your professional life was like before you became a strategic facilitator in working with clients to shift their unsupportive beliefs by applying the latest in neuroscience techniques?

I was always striving to make IT, you know, make it BIG. That’s why I got into real estate development, I wanted to play with all the rich guys making the big deals. I had moved across the country to open our first west coast office for what had been my dream job and I was traveling back and forth across the country regularly. I had that moment, in my top floor office with the amazing view overlooking the Puget Sound, where I thought this is IT, I guess I’ve made it, and then like a knife in the gut, I realized “Oh ----, this isn’t IT.”

What led you to shift gears from your previous careers? You were very successful, so why the change?

I’d always had a nagging sensation that there was more to life than what I was experiencing, but I had thought that I was going to fall in love, marry my husband, and have a happy domestic life. The truth was I was married to my job and had been single for more years then I would admit, not including the occasional affair or casual fling here and there.

After a year of living on the west coast, I hadn’t made any community, and on New Years Eve, I witnessed a fatal accident. Seeing someone else’s life blood pour out on to the pavement rocked my world. I knew there was a reason I was alive, and if I was still alive, I better figure out immediately what I was here to do, be and to contribute. It had become clear to me that the life I was living, wasn’t much of a life at all.

Friends and family on the other side of the country that I rarely saw or spoke to, no love in my life, no community, barely a reason to get out of bed in the morning. I was so disconnected from myself, I couldn’t tell you if I enjoyed my morning coffee or if I was passionate or inspired by anything which felt scarier than being dead in that moment. I was living a half life. Dead inside walking around going through the motions.

As it turns out my health would be the final catalyst in my making serious life changes. I thought I was just eternally exhausted and then I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, my right arm became partially paralyzed, and I was exhibiting the precursors of MS. I saw the writing on the wall. I had to change my life, or die.

I quit smoking. I started cleansing and stopped eating processed foods. I fired my doctor after putting me on meds that made me suicidal and I started devouring books and medical journals on how to heal my body. Healing my body and recovering my mind placed me firmly on the path to complete self discovery.

People say, you can always go back. I say, that’s bullshit. When I left, I thought it was to save my life and to get healthy, I thought it was temporary. I hoped I was going to fall in love and get married. What life had in store for me, however, was something much greater than I could imagine.

A fundamental aspect of your operating mission seems to be to work with people so they reach a place of inner authority, can you define what you mean by that and how your methodology works in practice?

Here’s the thing, the majority of us are walking around living our lives, hoping that we’re doing it right. The voices in your head that tell you what to do, beat you up for doing it wrong, tell you that you’re not good enough, say that you like this, and you don’t like, aren’t even yours. You’re so busy living your life you never stopped to ask yourself, Who am I? What do I like? What am I doing here this lifetime? And whose authority am I subscribing to in order to gauge whether or not I’ve accomplished what I'm 'supposed’ to. The scariest thing, is that the majority of us don’t even know when we’re truly happy, or if we are happy at all.

If we find ourselves seeking the meaning of our lives, chances are we are seeking the answer somewhere out there. The work that I do with people is to connect them with their voice of Inner Authority. When you distinguish what’s good for you based on your own internal gauge, your own personal divining tool becomes the most powerful decision making system available to each of us.

Describe for me how you work to rewire and install new supportive beliefs and uninstall old unsupportive beliefs that take hold in a person’s operating system – their mind?

I have a “Touchstone Process" that alchemizes your past hurts and disappointments and transforms them into precious gem stones. These Touchstones become part of your inner wealth treasury and we use visual cues and physical symbols to communicate to your subconscious that you are reprogramming for a different experience. By creating these real Touchstone points you are forming communication lines between your conscious and subconcious and therefore changing your awareness and potentiality to experience different outcomes.

Through connecting with your Inner Authority and adopting helpful conscious and subconscious tools you will experience real and dramatic changes in your external circumstances. You will release patterns that create repetition of undesirable life experiences. It's like identifying codes in your DNA that have you programmed to a certain set point or way of being and then we insert new programming that changes the external interface that is your life.

Clarity is a core component of your coaching objectives. How do you define clarity?

Clarity is what comes with awareness. When you have clarity you know with a distinct quality a surety, that the answer you have been seeking is known, it is within you, and all you must do is to remove the barriers within that have kept you from it. I tell my clients, this doesn’t mean you never make the “wrong” decision again. Or that you don’t do the stupid thing. But you do recognize your choice and you have awareness around what’s driving the choice. Clarity is a choice point, when you have that awareness you can at that moment realize why you are choosing one experience over another, and also choose to have a different experience.

How does your understanding of human perception and programming play into the method you devised? Could you outline the kind of system you have developed for your coaching practice?

ad•ven•tur•ous [ad-ven-cher-uhs] adjective surprised by an experience that you didn’t know existed until you tried requiring courage; full of risk; coming alive in your life

The Adventurous Life Program addresses two core issues. In the first part of the program we re-engage you with life and get you out of the fog you’re most likely living in. This is when you begin to come alive in your life again, start to identify with your Inner Authority and feel more energy than you have in a long while.

The second part of the program establishes a new wealth and prosperity paradigm, where we integrate a healthy relationship to money, and beliefs around wealth, prosperity, and living life on purpose. In the work we demonstrate evidential proof of the external changes taking place because of the internal shifts and we call into manifest reality the future potentiality of a person’s life based on the vision of their Inner Authority.

Tell me more how you utilize your knowledge of circuitry breaks and brain coding of data as part of an integrative approach to do the kind of neuro change work with clients?

Think of your belief systems like well worn tracks in your brain circuitry. You thoughts and beliefs are like program coding that determine whether love, money, happiness, and success are possibilities in your life. Your beliefs can prevent you from taking action, moving forward, or making different decisions that would create different experiences in your life.

When we change the programming of your brain, its like refreshing a web page with new coding, your life appears differently once new programming is installed and the frame is refreshed.

What is your theoretical orientation and training that influences how you coach and your style to approach facilitating change by working with the fundamental operating system of the human brain?

I strongly believe that each person has a reason for existence. Everything is made up of energy, including us, which means we have a unique resonance pattern making us absolutely integral in the system of things and completely distinctive as human beings and as energy. My work with individuals centers around each person understanding their own exceptional qualities and teaching them the tools to act on this knowledge.

Every person is unique and every person will find happiness, success, and soul purpose in their own unique way- this is true fulfillment and satisfaction.

Tell me what kind of peer reviewed clinical science supports your work and methodology?

I believe that science and spirituality are on a collision course to meet each other and I believe that many spiritual concepts will be understood by scientific findings in the years to come. Quantum physics, epigenetics, and neuroscience have drastically changed our understanding of time, space, the human body, and the human mind.

The way the brain changes as a result of mental activity is called neuroplasticity. Science is proving that thinking activity is real, it can be measured in our magnetic fields, and it can be seen on various types of brain imaging. Neuroscience has discovered that our thoughts form first in the frontal lobe then causing electrical impulses in the brain creating chemical effects that can be seen and measured.

When we think, amazing unfathomable creative things take place. Your thinking changes the make up of your brain. Your brain will follow the choices and intentions of your mind and change its makeup accordingly.

Furthermore, the science of epigenetics is proving and uncovering our natural ability to change our DNA and our biological makeup by our thinking. Neuroscientist, Dr. Marion Diamond's research has shown the effects of the stress, aging, and immune responses on the brain. She is known for discovering a possible link to “positive thinking" and good brain health, furthermore she showed that 4 days of "enrichment" would increase brain health at any age (including the equivalent of 90 year olds).

Other research by Jeffrey Schwartz, Henry Markram, Bruce Lipton, and Allan Jones are redefining our understanding of our capacity to change our genes, our DNA, and our brains by our own thoughts and at any age. Pretty mind blowing stuff!

Then there is the tremendous body of research on quantum mechanics and string theory that is completely blowing away our understanding of space and time and proving that there really is no such thing as space and time in reality. One of my favorite articles of recent states:

“Recently, a strange duality has been found between string theory and quantum field theory, indicating that the former (which includes gravity) is mathematically equivalent to the latter (which does not) when the two theories describe the same event as if it is taking place in different numbers of dimensions. No one knows quite what to make of this discovery. But the new amplituhedron research suggests space-time, and therefore dimensions, may be illusory anyway."

What protocol and guidelines do you use to measure the effectiveness of your coaching with a client? Do you work in collaboration with their health care providers? What else makes you distinct from the more generic “life coach” segment of the coaching and development industry?

Many clients report positive results almost instantly. I don’t ask for this type of accolade, but I’m happy to know that receiving instant relief is possible for people who are suffering with depression and high anxiety. When clients report that they feel more themselves than they ever have and they no longer fear what had plagued them prior to our work, this is the highest praise.

I facilitate deep work with persons who have battled with depression and anxiety for years. These are smart and self educated people who have tried everything, followed all the rules, and yet happiness and security has eluded them. They may suffer from heartbreak, financial hardship, or complicated family dynamics. They have come to the place where they are seeking a spiritual answer to what ails them and are ready to experience permanent transformation in their lives.

I work in correlation with the physical and mental health programs that my clients are currently using. I’m not against medication, especially when you are in such a dark place that you can’t see your way out of it, however, having been there myself, I do know that thriving without medication is possible.

The work that I do with my clients is different than most programs because the outcome is that the individual had connected with their own Inner Authority, not someone else’s. I don’t believe that one system or one program fits all. I do believe that once a person has identified their true essence and has learned tools to empower themselves to act on this voice of inner authority and integrated a spiritual relationship with money they are a powerful human being able to wield the forces of life and experience true prosperity.
