He accepted a plaque and proclamation during a break the Coral Springs Championship meet. The meet was named the Brantley Barr Invitational Track Meet. "I loving coaching track and field," said Barr.

Diane Sanzari, Coral Springs Athletic Director said she believes Barr is a great coach and has helped many young people over the years at Coral Springs. She hopes to have the track named after him.

Teachers and high school coaches don't often get much recognition. Barr has done a great job as a track and field coach and cross country coach. He has built a strong and well recognized program at Coral Springs High School. More importantly, he has helped young people reach their potential.
