Co-host rumors on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ reaching critical mass

Everywhere you turn these days you see a new article about Season 18 co-host Erin Andrews being replaced, most likely by Maria Menounos. Fans complained constantly about Brooke Burke Charvet, that she was boring, monotone, asked everyone the same questions, etc. Yet when Erin replaced her, the cry of “Bring Back Brooke” went up in a loud chorus across the land.

Rumors are abounding that Maria Menounos will replace Erin Andrews on DWTS

All throughout Season 18, there were nasty rumors about Erin Andrews. She was a diva. She didn’t get along with anyone on the show. She wouldn’t socialize with staff, dancers or celebrities. Host Tom Bergeron heartily defended Erin against those rumors. ABC has stated that it’s simply not true and there are currently no plans to replace Erin.

What’s wrong with Erin? I admit that her voice got to me on opening night, but I quickly got used to it. She is a sports sideline reporter and quickly put those skills to good use, even asking about babies with Meryl and Maks. She certainly was not boring!

So why do the rumors about Maria Menounos persist? That’s a good question. Do fans think she’d be any better? Both ladies are former contestants on the show. Maria Menounos came in 5th with partner Derek Hough in Season 14. Erin Andrews was a finalist with Maks Chmerkovskiy, finishing in 3rd place in Season 10. In fact, the much-maligned Brooke Burke Charvet was the Season 7 champion.

Dancing With the Stars” is coming back in the fall for Season 19, but no premier date has been announced. Who will be Tom Bergeron’s co-host? More than likely, it will be Erin Andrews if ABC is to be believed.

If you’re a fan of the show, leave a comment and let me know who you’d like to see standing next to Tom Bergeron and reporting from the Sky Box. Who’s your favorite of the recent co-hosts, Brooke or Erin?
