CNN anchor Zoraida Sambolin’s send-off on Friday didn’t leave a dry eye in the house. The “Early Start” co-anchor said her final good byes as she’s moving back to the Chicago area to be near her family and fiancé, according to the Huffington Post on Dec. 13.
Sambolin told the audience that this decision wasn’t one that she took lightly. She thought “long and hard” about leaving a show and she said that “I did it primarily for my kids.”
Chicago is her hometown and she’ll be back near her family. This decision was made after Sambolin struggled while battling breast cancer this year. When you are facing a health crisis most would agree that there’s nothing like having family around to support you.
Her send-off included showing a video of some of the more memorable moments during Sambolin’s time at “Early Start.” She cried and had nothing but high praise for her co-host John Berman. She thanked Berman and CNN chief Jeff Zucker.
Michaela Pereira, Chris Cuomo and Kate Bolduan were also there to accentuate this lovely send-off to their co-worker and friend.
