CNN commentator complains about Israel’s ‘Iron Dome’ defense system

CNN commentator Marc Lamont Hill on Monday complained that it is not fair that Israel’s "Iron Dome" defense system removes the terrorist organization, Hamas’s ability to strike at Israel and feels the ‘Iron Dome’ should be unfunded and eliminated to allow equal military leverage between Israel and Hamas.

On CNN’s Newsroom interview, Hill complained that the Hamas terrorists have a disadvantage and he was asked by Carol Costello of CNN, ”Why complain about civilian casualties if the United States is handing Israel the money to launch the air strikes after the fact?”

Hill responded by saying, “That's a great question. That's a question that many of us have been asking for many, many years. I'm pleased to see the United States finally joining the international community in condemning Israel for this reckless assault on innocent lives, but it is hard to condemn Israel when you fund them with so much of the money and so many of the weapons. Now the United States would reasonably say that the Iron Dome funding was necessary on Friday, $225 million, because they want Israel to the defend itself from rocket fire. You have to have some sort of caveat, some sort of demand, some sort of imposition of peace. You can’t simply say we are going to keep funding an Iron Dome when there is such a disproportionate attack on the people of Gaza.”

“It allows Israel to essentially assault and siege Gaza without any retribution or response on the other side. So again, to some extent, they are not just funding defense, they are funding an offensive war and ultimately an occupation. That for me is the problem.”

For several years, Hamas has attacked Israel with rockets hitting various areas of Israel and several countries who are not friendly to Israel have complained that Israel is the aggressor when Hamas, who has been designated as a terrorist organization, has been the one attacking Israel relentlessly.

On Wednesday, a senior Hamas official stated that they would continue to attack Israel if the Palestinian demands are not met.

The Jerusalem Post reported that Osama Hamdan, a senior Hamas official, said that the Palestinian delegation to the Cairo discussions, which also consisted of representatives of Fatah and other Palestinian factions, claimed that the US was exerting pressure on the Palestinians to agree to the extension of the cease-fire “in order to save Israel’s reputation.”

While CNN commentator Marc Lamont Hill complains about Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, Joe Newby of Conservative Firing Line reported on Wednesday that a Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri admitting to using human shields during an interview on Al-Aqsa TV.

Concerning the use of civilians as shields, Zuhri said, “People were on the roof of a particular house in order to prevent the Zionist occupation’s warplanes from targeting it. This attests to the character of our noble Jihad-fighting people, who defend their rights with their bare chests and their blood,” he added when asked to comment on the tactic of using human shields.”

Meanwhile, The New American reported on Monday that after the United Nations was caught in July 2014 giving rockets found at UN “schools” in Gaza to the terrorist group Hamas, the UN’s top “human rights” bureaucrat seeks to prosecute Israel officials and the IDF of war crimes in a U.N. court.
