CMT’s on Tour - Miranda Lambert “Revolution” Tour sweeps in to Texas

with special guest, Eric Church and introducing Josh Kelley

ABOUT JOSH KELLEY:

Singer songwriter Josh Kelley, from Augusta, Georgia, is being introduced and performing to an audience of thousands on Miranda’s Tour. It’s Texas, so an audience in the thousands may be an understatement!

After posting MP3s of his songs on the internet, he was contacted by an A&R rep for Hollywood Records. Kelley eventually signed with the label, and his debut album, For the Ride Home, was released in 2003. One of the tracks, "Amazing," was included on the soundtrack of Raising Helen, a film starring Kate Hudson. The exposure pushed the song to the Top 10 and "For the Ride Home" was re-released in 2004 with an additional bonus disc containing acoustic performances and two unreleased songs. Continuing his recording career, his songs have been featured on episodes of TV shows such as The CW's Smallville, NBC's Scrubs, ABC's Brothers and Sisters,

In 2009, he signed to the MCA imprint of the Universal Music Group Nashville. His first al\bum for MCA is scheduled to be released in late 2010. Kelley co-wrote "Georgia Clay," the project's first single, with his brother, Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley, and producer Clint Lagerberg.

Josh Kelley’s encapsulation and label as a pop-rock singer had me a little confused. I’ve always considered Josh as a country, folk, roots music treasure. The country melodies have always been a recurring sound in his music. After releasing six albums, Kelley has just released “Georgia Clay,” a country album for MCA Nashville. Married to well known actress and beautiful wife, Katherine Heigl and with a precious baby daughter, Josh is sure to be seeing a lot more camera lights!

Josh says in his bio “"This record is a time capsule. It's by far the best thing I've written and I've never been more proud," revealed Josh, who wrote or co-wrote each of the album's eleven songs. "I'm finally in a genre where I can write lyrics, tell stories and be a man." Growing up in the north Georgia mountains, Josh’s childhood was all about “bush hoggin” acres of land, living half of his life on a farm. During that time, he experienced a wide variety of musical styles, but that rootsy country heart still beat with life and now, to the delight of Josh, it is on fire.

With "Georgia Clay", it is very evident that this is what Josh was always meant to do…Country Music. It seems so natural in his songwriting and singing. You can take the boy out of the country, but….and you know the rest. “Georgia Clay”is the true Josh, with country music coursing as always through his veins. It’s a beautiful trip back to the time when life was so simple, full of heartfelt kisses on your truck’s tailgate, that good old truck, or a kid’s fake ID. Josh’s song “Georgia Clay” lyrics will move you to remember those sweet days and those lyrics speak so true: “when life was nothing more than living for the night. Something’s just don’t wash away, just like that good ol’ Georgia Clay.” Lest I step from my Texas boundaries, full reviews are left to the National Country Music reviewers and critics. As for this Examiner, Josh’s album “Georgia Clay” is already a treasured part of my collection of favorites!

After putting his music on the back burner, Josh attended the University of Mississippi on a golf scholarship and studied graphic arts. But even that did not satisfy Josh Kelley’s creative passions. His music was the key to releasing that creativity to its fullest. By 2003 he released his first album “For the Ride Home” and its top single “Amazing” reached number 5 on the Music Charts.  His second major released his second major label effort "Almost Honest" and its lead single, “Only You.” But Josh yearned for more freedom in his music and left Hollywood Records to begin his own label, DNK. And that leap of faith was the perfect move.  Between 2006 and 2008, Josh released four independent albums. "I wanted the sound to be more rootsy and more organic,” he said. “That’s what I had the power to do releasing my music on my own label." (See I’m not confused, I heard that resounding country whisper clearly moving through Josh’s music!)

Josh Kelley’s appearances on Ellen, Good Morning America, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Regis & Kelly, Last Call with Carson Daly and E! have continued to catapult him even farther into the bright spotlights. Following Josh’s allure, he was featured in People Magazine, Us Weekly, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, Radar and Paste Magazine all popular music and entertainment publications featuring Josh and his music. What was next?

Episodes of several popular TV shows were infused with Josh’s music - The CW's Smallville, NBC's Scrubs, ABC's Brothers and Sisters, What About Brian and MTV's the Hills.

Yes, to introduce Josh as new on the country music scene just doesn’t work… he’s been there for quite a while in what we’ve always heard whispering in his music and hearing the heart of Country Music beginning to burst forth as it always was meant to do.

The tour will only be in Texas for three performances, Nacogdoches, College Station and Beaumont.  Don’t miss the CMT on Tour Miranda Lambert Revolution Tour.  We owe it to Miranda Lambert for her incredible talent, Texas beauty and her love for her fans to welcome her back to Texas with a roar that can be heard all the way to Nashville!
