CMT Saturday nights are coming back for another season, as the channel announced Feb. 23 it's renewing both "Bayou Billionaires" and "My Big Redneck Vacation," their highest premiering shows ever. Both shows, which continue to be two of the highest-rated original series the network has ever had, will return for their second season in June.
“’Bayou Billionaires’ and ‘My Big Redneck Vacation’ with Tom Arnold have energized Saturday nights on CMT and become runaway hits for the network,” said Jayson Dinsmore, Executive Vice President of programming and development, CMT. “We’ve only begun to scratch the surface with both of these fantastic families and look forward to even more laughs next season from the Bayou and beyond.”
"Bayou Billionaires" revolves around the lives of the Dowden family from Shreveport, La. who recently struck it rich when the fourth largest deposit of natural gas in the United States was found on their property. In the first season, they've opened a Tae Kwon Do business, had a yard sale and found creative ways to spend their money on everything from new trailers, to new teeth to new toupees.
"My Big Redneck Vacation," hosted by Tom Arnold, follows another Louisiana family, the Clampets, as they vacation in the Hamptons. The family has already shown their neighbors up north how to party redneck style with mudding, ATVs and shooting bows and arrows. The season still has a Hamptons wedding in store, complete with deer antler decor.
The first season for both shows will wrap up on March 31, 2012.
"Bayou Billionaires" is produced by Magilla Entertainment. Brian Flanagan, Matt Ostrom, Laura Palumbo Johnson and Brad Johnson serve as executive producers. Eliot Goldberg and Jayson Dinsmore serve as executive producers for CMT.
"My Big Redneck Vacation" is produced by Pink Sneakers. Kimberly Belcher Cowin, John Ehrhard and Brad Johnson serve as executive producers. Lewis Bogach and Jayson Dinsmore serve as executive producers for CMT.
