In tweet posted on Tuesday, February 11, it was revealed that the CMT Music Awards will take place on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. A photo was accompanied with the phrase, "Save the date." No additional details were provided.
More than 3.4 million viewers tuned into the 2013 broadcast which was hosted by Jason Aldean and Kristen Bell. The show featured memorable performances by Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, and Hunter Hayes. Known for exciting musical collaborations, fans were also treated to star-studded sets from Jason Aldean and Lenny Kravitz, Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum, Florida Georgia Line and Nelly, and Little Big Town and Keith Urban.
Carrie Underwood holds the record of most wins with a total of nine trophies. Her clip for “Blown Away” took home the coveted “Video of the Year” in 2013. Brad Paisley follows next with eight awards.
According to a press release from CMT, artists who performed on the live show last year saw an increase in digital sales. The show was also the number non-sports original cable telecast for the day. The 2014 show will mark the thirteenth anniversary of the show, which is the very first fan-voted country music award program.
