It’s that time of year again. The CMJ Music Marathon and Conference announced the first round of artists that will be playing the 2014 festival on August 28.
Heading up this preliminary list is My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, who recently kicked off his solo career, and Australian singer/songwriter Courtney Barnett, who has been wowing audiences for years. Other high profile artists playing this year include The Kills, Bombay Bicycle Club, Cold War Kids, The Horrors, Mathew Dear, Slowdive, and Cathedrals, among others. The CMJ Music Marathon has been showcasing some of the best up-and-coming talent from around the world for 33 years. For five full days, venues all over New York City will play host to hundreds of showcases and panel discussions with up-and-coming artists and industry professionals.
CMJ has become one of the most influential festivals for finding the next big thing in music. Past artists that have come out of the festival include My Morning Jacket, My Chemical Romance, Arcade Fire, Paramore, Ra Ra Riot, Vampire Weekend, Lady Gaga, Mumford & Sons, Lana Del Rey, Avicii, Gotye, and Icona Pop, along many others.
The 2014 CMJ Music Marathon and Conference will be taking place from October 21 through October 25. Badges are currently on sale for a reduced price through September 15, and can be purchased from the festival’s website.
