Yesterday I had the good fortune of catching the Griswolds, out of Sydney, at an early show at Pianos. They were very catchy, had lots of energy, and are definitely a young band trending upwards. After they played, I quickly caught up with Christopher Whitehall and Daniel Duque-Perez.
LS: So is this the first time you guys are out in the States? What's that trip like?
CW: Been crazy so far, we've been running around like crazy trying to get ready for CMJ and the upcoming tour around the States. We're really excited to be here, loving New York. It's the best city!
LS: You guys have a really great sound, how long have you guys been a band, and who are a few of your major influences?
DDP: Thank you! We have been a band for a bit over a year and a half. Major influences would be people like Theophilus London, MGMT, Kanye West, Of Montreal, Devendra Banhart.
LS: What are your plans moving forward? An LP? More extensive touring of the U.S.?
CW: We'll be touring until mid November then we'll be in album mode. We start recording in LA with Tony Hoffer in January.
LS: So what was the deal with your keyboard player? Does this qualify as your most "Spinal Tap" moment?
DDP: Hahaha yeah this is definitely our Spinal Tap moment, hahaha. He couldn't get his US Visa approved in time and had to miss our first show at CMJ, but he's here for the rest of them.
LS: You don't seem to have much free time, as you guys have a lot of shows this week, but if you did, who would you check out?
CW: Little Daylight, Claire, Haerts, Strange Talk, ASTR
