The Central Maine Community College (CMCC) Mustangs women's basketball team defeated Berkeley (NY) 56-48 on Friday evening to advance to the USCAA division 2 national championship game for the first time in program history.

CMCC (24-2) scored the first nine points of the game, and held a lead of at least five points the rest of the way.

The Mustangs took a commanding 40-22 lead when they went on a 10-0 that extended to early in the second half.

Berkeley cut the deficit to 47-40 on an Aiyeyla Brown basket with just over eight minutes left in the second half.

Susie French nailed a three pointer to give CMCC a 50-40 lead.

French led CMCC with 22 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

Laura Soohey recorded 12 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks.

Gabby Foy added seven points and three steals. Maggie McConkey recorded five points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals.

Samantha Bruce chipped in with four points.

Hannah Champagne and Lexi Larson finished with three points each.

The top seeded Mustangs will take on second ranked University of Cincinnati-Clermont in the national title game on Saturday at 4 p.m.
