CMA Country Christmas pays tribute to holidays and Peanuts

"CMA Country Christmas," hosted by Jennifer Nettles was a feel-good musical special that flew by in a fast two hour show on Dec. 2, 2013 on ABC Television Network. The show was taped in front of a live audience on Nov. 8, the day after the CMA Awards at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.

Svelt Jennifer Nettles cheerfully opened the show by talking about how her family life has changed since hosting the show last year, when she was very pregnant. The Christmas special featured musical melodies and the memories of the holidays. "Duck Dynasty's" Willie Robertson appeared to sing along with Luke Bryan. The Robertson family participate in a fireside chat. The highly popular A&E reality stars released Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas album in Oct.

Artists included Trace Adkins, Lady Antebellum, Luke Bryan, Sheryl Crow, Lucy Hale, Jake Owen, Kellie Pickler, Rascal Flatts, Hunter Hayes, Darius Rucker, Michael W. Smith, Mary Blige and Jennifer Nettles. The attached slideshow includes photos of the artists during the performances.

Lady Antebellum sang "I'll Be Home for Christmas" along with a montage of photos of military members returning home to their families. Home for the Holidays supports troops with ABC programming.

The show's finale was a tribute to the Peanuts characters. Nettles performed Christmas Time is Here, the theme song from "A Charlie Brown Christmas." This was followed by a duet of Winter Wonderland with Mary J. Blige and Nettles. Oversized Peanuts characters, including Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Linus, merrily danced down the aisles for a festive finale.
