The 2009 CMA Awards aired on ABC Wednesday night live from Nashville, Tennessee. Taylor Swift was the big winner of the night with awards for Best Album, Female Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year.
It was 19-year-old Swift's first win in all three categories. She "thanked everyone in the audience for not coming on stage and interrupting me during this." She beat out four-time Entertainer of the Year winner Kenny Chesney and became the youngest winner ever in that category. Swift burst into tears when her name was called.
Lady Antebellum, relatively new on the country music scene, won for Single of the Year for "I Want to Run to You" and Vocal Group of the Year. Brad Paisley won his third straight Male Vocalist of the Year award. Sugarland won Country Duo of the Year, beating out Brooks & Dunn who sang for the last time on the awards. Barbara Mandrell received the Hall of Fame award with a tribute by Martina McBride who sang "I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool."
Other highlights included Daughtry singing with Vince Gill, Dave Matthews performing Kenny Chesney,Tim McGraw's return after a four year absence and Carrie Underwood's sizzling performance of "Country Casanova."
The awards were hosted by Underwood and Brad Paisley.

Comments
Taylor Swift is a good looking girl and great singer, but she is not a country singer nor is over half of the people that was on the show last night or last year.
In my opinion Taylor Swift should go on tour with Milie Cyrus. They both appeal to the same audiences. She is not a country singer nor star. If not for Carrie underwood and Brad Pasley the show would have boomed. Come on now give us real country music fans something to watch we can enjoy.
Thanks
Great seeing Barbara Mandrell and Reba !!!
