Punk, 35, walked away from the WWE following this year's Royal Rumble, but most wrestling fans expected him to return shortly after.
Unfortunately, for WWE Universe, the Punk situation has gone from mysterious to downright bad.
At first, the general consensus was that Vince McMahon would be able to easily correct the situation by discussing any lingering issues with Punk.
However, as the weeks have passed, Punk and the WWE brass seem farther apart than ever before.
For the first time since Punk left the promotion, most WWE fans are starting to truly think he's out of the loop for good.
There were some rumblings that Punk would return to the WWE fold when the promotion brought Monday Night Raw to his hometown of Chicago, just four weeks ago.
The hope was that McMahon and company could meet with Punk in "The Windy City," and get closer to coming to an agreement on a long-term extension for his contract.
Not only did that meeting never happen, Punk was spotted just one week later at an event in Los Angeles. The WWE was apparently upset that Punk was willing to fly to the opposite side of the country, yet unable to meet up while they were right in his backyard.
A few weeks after that, Triple H took a verbal jab at Punk on an episode of Monday Night Raw, by hinting that the Chicago native took his ball and went home with it like a little baby.
The WWE has reportedly been scrambling to rewrite scripts that Punk was supposed to be a part of in the days and weeks leading up to Wrestlemania XXX.
As the big event approaches, Punk is still nowhere to be found and it's not likely that he'll be in attendance in New Orleans.
Time will tell how this situation plays out, but right now it's not looking good for Punk fans.
