Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente announced they have signed Daniel “travieso” Guzman as new coach for the team. The Aztec dogs have struggled in the current Apertura 2014 winning only one game in seven weeks of action, forcing the directive to release previous coach Cesar Farias.

Guzman is known for building competitive teams that the crowd enjoys. He won the Clausura 2008 title with Club Santos Laguna defeating Mexico City club Cruz Azul. Guzman has coached several teams in La Liga MX, amongst them Chivas de Guadalajara and Tigres UANL.

“Travieso’s” new adventure begins in week 8 when they take on CF Pachuca at the Hidalgo Stadium. His next match is in Copa MX action where they will face Chivas de Guadalajara at the Omnilife Stadium. Xolos need to win against Chivas if they want to continue in the league cup.

Guzman becomes the fifth coach to take over the rojinegros bench since they promoted to the first division in the Apertura 2011. Their second coach, Antonio Mohamed, took them to the Apertura 2012 championship.
