Looking for a healthy way to celebrate Memorial Day? Be a part of the Clovis Memorial Run on May 26, a non-competitive race for all athletic abilities and ages. The event will be held rain or shine.
The event includes a 5K (3.1 miles) run or walk, a 2-mile walk, a 1/2 mile kid's run, and a 1/2 mile S.A.F.E. Senior Walk & Roll. Your registration includes a T-shirt, pancake breakfast ticket, goodie bag, one raffle ticket (additional tickets available for $1) and a participant ribbon.
In order to honor active military and veterans on Memorial Day weekend, they may participate in the events at no charge. Every participant receives a polyester dry-weave fabric race shirt, goodie bag, pancake breakfast ticket and raffle ticket for some great prizes.
Vendors will provide information for veterans, seniors, and their families. A raffle for fantastic prizes will be held at 10 a.m. Each registered participant will receive one raffle ticket; additional tickets are available for $1.
The 5K or 2-mile registration is $25 until May 20. The Kid's Run or SAFE Senior Walk and Roll is $15 until May 20. Veterans and active military may participate for free but must register in order to get their shirt and other goodies.
Early bird registration is available through May 20. No mail in registrations after May 20 - in person at the Senior Center or on-line only. From May 21-26 the cost per runner increases $5 per person for each event listed above except for active military and veterans which remains free. Shirt sizes and quantities are not guaranteed for registrations after May 20. Online registration is available until May 24.
Proceeds from the event go to the Clovis Senior Center to help create a laptop computer lab.
In conjunction with the races, a resource fair will be held in Memorial Park adjacent to the Senior Center. Vendors and information for seniors, veterans and their families will be available. A pancake breakfast will be served inside the neighboring Veteran's Memorial Building. Each participant will receive a breakfast ticket and additional tickets for family and friends can be purchased for $4 each. Additional shirts are available for $10 each.
Packet and shirt pick up is available at the Clovis Senior Center located at 850 Fourth Street in Clovis on May 24 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the day of the event, May 26 starting at 7 a.m.
