Miami Valley , Whitewater Valley, and the I-71 corridor of Ohio/Indiana:
Temperatures today will sore into the lower 60s and dewpoints will come up by evening ahead of a strong cold front. This will result in a quick increase in thunderstorms late this evening. Some of these thunderstorms will be capable of damaging winds, small hail, and even a isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. The strongest storms with the greatest tornado threat will likely be SW of our region due to less snow cover. Snow cover keeps the ground from warming to much and can prohibit thunderstorms from growing to strong. However the wind field within this low pressure is extremely tight meaning any thunderstorms that form late will have to do little work to tap and bring some strong winds down to the surface. Gust with the thunderstorms could top 55 pm for some. Even with out thunderstorms wind fields will support strong damaging wind gust along the front and behind the front during the day tomorrow. There is also a flooding threat tonight with any heavy rain that falls on saturated ground from snow melt. Tomorrow will be windy but clear skies will return, however temps will be considerably cooler in the 40s. Saturday will be one more day to enjoy the warmth with temps near 50 and sunshine before a cold front brings the chance of some light snow/rain Saturday night and brings colder air in by Sunday.
A stronger system will move through Tuesday bringing even colder air and the chance for some snow. Cold air still seems to persist with us through at least next weekend.
