There is one very important thing to remember when researching cloth diapers for your little tot: all babies are shaped differently, and therefore different brands work best for different babies. Your sister might swear by one brand of cloth diaper, yet you end up with nothing but leaks from it. With this in mind, don't buy an entire stock of one brand of diaper before your baby arrives. Shop around. Buy one to three of each brand that you are interested in, and then test them to see how they work for you.

To help you narrow down the choices, here is an article series with unbiased reviews for some of the of the most popular cloth diaper brands.

bumGenius One Size 3.0: This diaper is super absorbent, easy to apply, and absolutely adorable. It is especially useful for husbands and daycare providers who are unenthusiastic about cloth diapers. The Velcro closure makes it easy to put on a squirming baby. The manufacturer states that it should fit most babies from 8 to 35 pounds; however, most moms discover that it fits babies best once they are about 10 pounds. This is a great overnight diaper, because it comes with two super absorbent inserts. The biggest complaint with bumGenius 3.0s is that the Velcro wears out quickly. You can easily replace the Velcro if you have any sewing experience, but many moms are frustrated by this flaw.

bumGenius Organic One Size: This diaper also adjusts to fit your baby from 8 to 35 pounds. Instead of the ultrasuede lining and microfiber inserts seen in the 3.0, this diaper is lined with two thick layers of organic cotton. The Organic One Size also comes with heavy-duty snaps instead of the cheap Velcro that is on the 3.0s, so the Organics will hold up better in the long run. These diapers are great at holding in all kinds of messes, but many moms have observed that they are not quite absorbent enough for overnight use once baby starts sleeping through the night. However, this diaper is a dream if you don’t want to have to stuff diapers out of the dryer. The Organic One Size is also trimmer than the 3.0, so you don’t have to worry about your baby having a ghetto booty in those precious baby pants.

Stop by the Giggling Green Bean in North Denver if you want to check out some bumGenius diapers for yourself.

Be on the look out for the next article in the series, which will feature reviews on another popular diaper brand- FuzziBunz.
