Closing the Gap - Runway inspired fashion

Is anyone else getting super excited for NY Fashion Week? I am. I can't wait to see what's in store. Sadly, I'm going to have to wait until the 11th for the official festivities to kick off - DVF, Narciso Rodgriguez, Zac Posen - oh my! Until then, I thought I'd pay a little tribute to what we saw waltz down the Spring 2010 runways. That is, military inspired ensembles.

You know what I love about the look? The fact that you don't have to be having brunch at Balthazar to pull it off. Nope, an oversized khaki shirt is just fine for cocktails at Mateo or perusing the aisles of Sunflower. In fact, I'd say the look is made for the Boulder lifestyle in that it's both functional and stylish.

Not sure how to get the look? Let me help you out. I'm loving Gap's new twill shirtdress (part of their new Utility Collection). I can't wait to wear it over tights with buckle boots, or come summer, with last year's gladiator sandal. How's that for basic training?

Now drop and give me 20.
