'Clone Wars' canceled on Cartoon Network but may turn up elsewhere (Video)

On March 11, "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" had the Cartoon Network plug pulled by Lucasfilms. The firm behind the franchise announced this drastic move online on the production company's site.

This happens after Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex have entertained for five seasons on the air in "Clone Wars."

However, this fresh word from the makers of the animated show doesn't mean this is the demise of the show altogether. In fact, enthusiasts of this effort and the characters who are much loved may soon be able to look elsewhere for the series and those special folk.

According to Disney-owned Lucasfilms, "After five highly successful and critically acclaimed seasons of 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars,' we feel the time has come to wind down the series."

The announcement about the series that tells the story of what happened between "Star Wars" prequel two and three continued, saying, "While the studio is no longer producing new episodes for Cartoon Network, we're continuing production on new Clone Wars story arcs that promise to be some of the most thrilling adventures ever seen."

With that in mind, more information on this so-called "bonus content" will be available to all "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" fans soon so stay tuned.
