Cliven Bundy. Just when you thought he couldn't say anything more ridiculous, he proves you wrong.
The Nevada rancher who was found to be freeloading off of the government to the tune of $1 million in back grazing fees revealed himself to be a racist after the New York Times released a video of a rant by Bundy this week.
In the rant, Bundy wondered whether or not the "negro" would be better off as cotton picking slaves than under government subsidies. Bundy also chimed in with accusations that the "negro" have too many abortions and send their young men to jail. In an attempt to clear his name, Bundy appeared for an interview with CNN where he simply states that if you think he is racist, than you should just blame Martin Luther King Jr.
"I took this boot off so I wouldn’t put my foot in my mouth with the boot on..Let me see if I can say something. Maybe I sinned, and maybe I need to ask forgiveness, and maybe I don't know what I actually said, but when you talk about prejudice, we're talking about not being able to exercise what we think.
“If I say 'Negro' or 'black boy' or 'slave,' if those people cannot take those kind of words and not be [offended], then Martin Luther King hasn't got his job done yet..We need to get over this prejudice stuff."
Republicans and the right wing media were quick to jump on the Bundy bandwagon when they thought it was an easy way to attack President Obama, Sen. Harry Reid and the Democrats, but once his racist comments were made public, many quickly jumped ship.
