Clive Davis responds to Kelly Clarkson's open letter: Facts have been checked

Clive Davis opens up about his relationship with the first "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson in his book "The Soundtrack of My Life." Upon hearing about this book Kelly Clarkson immediately responded to the information by sending an open letter to her fans claiming it's false. However, according to Celebuzz on Wednesday, Feb. 20 Clive Davis continues to stand by his book claiming that the information has been verified and is accurate.

Recently, Clive Davis appeared on "Nightline" where he discussed his upcoming book "The Soundtrack of My Life." One of the most revealing statements was when Clive Davis opened up and told Nightline's Cynthia McFadden that he was bisexual and currently in a relationship with a man at the age of 80.

"I opened myself up to the possibility that I could have a relationship with a man as well as the two that I had with a woman ... I'm still attracted to women ... You don't have to be only one thing or another. For me, it's the person."

Clive Davis also dedicated a chapter in his book discussing his business relationship with Kelly Clarkson. Although, Clive Davis praised Kelly Clarkson's singing ability he did admit that their relationship was strained until it was severed in 2007.

“As anyone who has read The Soundtrack of My Life knows, I think Kelly Clarkson is a tremendous vocal talent and performer,” Davis wrote Tuesday night on his Twitter. “In the book, I provide an in-depth look at our years together during which we shared major multi-platinum success, as well as a few creative differences.”

Apparently, when Kelly Clarkson discovered the information about her within Clive Davis' book concerning their business relationship she refuted it and stated that it was false. Kelly Clarkson provided her version of the truth within an open letter provided online to her fans.

"So I just heard Clive Davis is releasing a memoir and spreading false information about me and my music. I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation for myself and for my fans. It feels like a violation. Growing up is awesome because you learn you don't have to cower to anyone - even Clive Davis."

Clive Davis didn't waste any time firing back at the letter Kelly Clarkson posted claiming that his information was accurate. He even went further to state that all information was verified via fact checkers.

“I am truly very sorry that she has decided to take issue with what I know to be an accurate depiction of our time together,” he continues. “Before the book was published, I had every fact checked with five independent individuals who were present on a daily basis throughout it all. The chapter as it is written was thoroughly verified by each and every one of them. I stand by the chapter as written in my book. At the same time I wish, and will always wish, Kelly’s talent and her career to soar to ever new heights.”

It remains to be seen who is actually telling the truth. However, both Kelly Clarkson and Clive Davis have had a chance to tell the public both sides of their story about their business relationship and creative differences.
