Clippers trade rumors have Tyler Zeller being offered up by the Cleveland Cavaliers. These Clippers trade rumors have surfaced after the Cavs pulled off a deal to acquire center Spencer Hawes from the Philadelphia 76ers. According to a report from basketball analyst Dan Woike on Thursday morning (Feb. 20), Cleveland did indeed call over to Los Angeles to see about the possibility of striking a deal.
Cleveland has a lot of size on the roster with Anderson Varejao, Tristan Thompson, and Zeller, but it is also important to point out that the team really started putting wins together recently when Zeller was put in as the starting center. The team has played well with him in the middle and Kyrie Irving and Luol Deng leading the offense. Changing that up might be a move that backfires if they don't keep winning games.
After selecting him in the first round several years ago, the Cavs haven't really used Zeller as much as they had hoped. He had become more of a role player this year until the injury to Varejao. That's exactly what he would do if these LA Clippers trade rumors led to anything, because he would be coming off the bench behind DeAndre Jordan. They could certainly use the size off the bench, but it might take a first round pick to close this deal.
