After waiving 6-foot-10 forward Trey Thompkins on Thursday, the Los Angeles Clippers filled their 15th roster spot by signing 6-foot-8 forward DaJuan Summers to a 10-day contract on Friday.
Thompkins was the Clippers’ second round pick out of Georgia in the 2011 NBA Draft. He played in 24 games during the 2011-12 season, averaging 2.4 points and one rebound in five minutes per game.
Thompkins was sidelined for all of this season with a bone bruise in his left knee.
“We want to thank Trey for his contribution to the Clippers,” said Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro in a team statement. “Unfortunately, he was never able to truly showcase his talents this season due to injuries. We wish him all the best and believe he has a bright future.”
Summers was selected by the Detroit Pistons as the 35th overall pick from Georgetown during the 2009 NBA Draft. He played two seasons with Detroit and one season with the New Orleans Hornets before signing with the Charlotte Bobcats as a free agent in 2012, where he was subsequently waived a month later.
Summers’ NBA career numbers are 3.4 points and one rebound in 10 minutes per game.
He most recently played for the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development League, averaging 18 points and 7.6 rebounds in 33.1 minutes per game.
