No word yet on whether Hillary and Bill Clinton's first grandchild might be named Clinton, abbreviated to "Clint," if the baby expected by their daughter, Chelsea, and son-in-law, Marc Mezvinsky, is a boy. After all, the proud announcement, made this afternoon at a Clinton Foundation Thursday event, is barely public news. Still, CNN Politics is already speculating.
At this time, Hillary, who is already being called, "Grandma Clinton," on the banner of the Drudge Report, is considered the front runner for the Democratic nomination in 2016 for presidency. Chelsea spent eight years of her life at the White House when her dad was president and her mom was First Lady. If Hillary Clinton were to end up the first woman president, it's almost certain that her first grandchild and any future grandchildren would become familiar with their mom's old stomping grounds.
According to a Fox News' report, a beaming Hillary Clinton acknowledged how "really excited" she felt at the news she and Bill would soon welcome their first grandchild. Chelsea expressed her hope was to be "as good a mom to my child and hopefully children," as Hillary was to her. Note that from Chelsea's wording, her family planning includes at least one additional brother or sister in the future.
Hillary's first vague political reference to her expectant grandchild has already been made. Today Hillary emphasized how a "new generation," makes their efforts to empower women, "even more important." If Clinton runs, her grandbaby is a shoo-in for an upbeat election topic.
Proudly, Bill Clinton tweeted, "Excited to add a new line to my Twitter bio...grandfather-to-be! @hillaryclinton and I are so happy for Chelsea and Marc!" Social engine "Congratulations," are pouring in from around the world as "Chelsea Clinton" has advanced to second in Twitter trends.
Among those who eager to share in their joy for Chelsea, Marc, Billl and Hillary was a daughter of the Bush clan. Jenna Bush Hager welcomed Chelsea to "Mamahood." As a current member of the best club of all, Jenna should know.
When Jenna's daughter was born, she named her Margaret Laura Hager in honor of both of her grandmothers. Yet, the little girl has been called, "Mila." It will be interesting to discover whether Chelsea has as much creative fun with her child's name. If she has a daughter, would anyone be surprised if some combination of Hillary appeared?
