A new leadership academy is coming to southwest Arkansas reports HopeStar.com. Voices of Hope, a new leadership academy located at the President William Jefferson Clinton national historic site, seeks 10 students from southwest Arkansas for its inaugural year.
Who can attend
Voices of Hope is recruiting high school students entering grades 9 through 11 in the 2013-2014 school year to participate in the academy. The academy is located at the national historic site in Hope, Arkansas. Students are responsible for their own transportation.
In order to be considered for this opportunity, students must agree to attend regular meetings in Hope, Arkansas. An application must be filled out and received back at the President William Jefferson Clinton National Historic Site no later than noon on April 6, 2013. Students must be from Nevada, Hempstead or Miller counties to be considered for Voices of Hope. On or shortly after April 14, 2013 students will be notified of their acceptance by phone.
Voices of Hope
This is a leadership program sponsored by the National Park Service. It is not a school, nor is it designed to take the place of a traditional school. Christian Davis, a spokesperson for Voices of Hope describes the program:
“The program is an in-depth immersion into the National Park Service, and provides connections to a host of other local businesses where students can gain valuable skills they will use in the future.”
Participation in the program gives students an opportunity to explore careers in the National Park Service. The program may offer opportunities for employment at other National Parks or internships.
