Climbing with Jesus

By leaning on God, one can always make it over the next mountain or obstacle in our way.

As CJ, a neighbor here in Wellington, Kansas, fights off another bout of the flu, it is interesting to learn that others are also suffering colds or illnesses. The way viruses spread throughout the community makes one consider how quickly the good news can spread when Christians share all the wonderful things God has done for them.

When one comes to the Lord, it is all a person can do to remain silent. Especially if that person has been baptized with the Holy Spirit at the same time. Most people get a wide smile on their faces because the joy they feel at that moment is so overwhelming they can do little to hide it. They are what many call “on fire” for the Lord. They can’t stop talking about the Lord. They get bouncy and joyful, downright excited. Granted, not everyone responds the same way, but many do.

A nonbeliever once made the comment that he “could always tell Christians by the way they walked around with that [stupid] grin on their faces.”

According to www.allaboutgod.com, “Christian witnessing is merely sharing our heartfelt faith in Christ - what He's personally done to change our individual lives! We're not called to argue or debate anyone into heaven. We're merely called to share! As in the courtroom, we're called to be a witness for the Gospel, not the lawyer, judge or jury… Leave that up to God!”

That is all God expects from us. To share His Truth and what good things the Lord has done for us. We are expected to walk in obedience and display this through our day-to-day lives.

Even the heaviest burden can be laid at the Lord’s feet, and He promises to help us carry our troubles.

In graduate school, this writer asked Him to help her get through it as if it were nothing more than a pleasant walk in the park. And, believe it or not, it happened just that way.

Would that others would understand the delight and joy one can know by leaning on Jesus for everything in their lives, instead of going it alone.

There is always a mountain to climb in our lives. But with God, all things are possible.

“For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:30 KJV)

I agree, Christians should NOT be judge & jury over others. Try to convince them of that! Many Christians are quick to tell others that (those others) are going to HELL, if they don't believe the way the Christian does. Why are Christians trying to legislate THEIR beliefs on to everyone else, so EVERYONE has to live according to Christian beliefs? What happened to being "in the world & not OF the world" & "setting themselves apart" instead of trying to take over? Jesus isn't the god of this world II Cor. 4:4, so why are his followers trying to be? Why are so many Christians I know always afraid? They fear! They fear, invisible demons & a devil & anyone who's different than them & now many fear a government run by Democrats & a black (he's also White) pres. Where's that supposed VICTORY in Jesus? Other Christians go around looking as if they were baptized in pickle juice!

As a former fundamentalist charismatic Christian, & now non-believer, life is so much better now.

You are right. I always wonder why supposed Christians are so fearful all the time. Scripture says that "perfect love casts out all fear", so it shouldn't even be an issue. Or perhaps these people are not walking with God the way they should. If they were, perhaps they wouldn't be so pessimistic or negative all the time. Since people are so quick to call themselves Christians these days, it makes me want to refer to myself more as a "true believer" than a Christian. False Christians have given believers a bad reputation, unfortunately.
