Cleveland's whaling wall is located on the Cleveland Public Power Plant just off the Shoreway. Perhaps you've driven by the large painted mural of whales and wondered why it's here and what it is.
The Wyland Whaling Walls were created by the artist known as Wyland to bring awareness to aquatic habitats and marine life conservation. Wyland created 100 life-size murals all over the world and completed his project in 2008.
Cleveland's whaling wall is called Song of the Whales. It was dedicated in 1997 and is 300-feet long and 108-feet wide.
The completed Wyland Walls is one of the largest ever public art projects. The Wyland Walls span five continents, 13 countries and 79 cities around the globe. And, it's a little-known fact Cleveland is one of them!
