A staple in the west sixth social system, Mercury Lounge (1392, next to Johnny's) celebrated its birthday yesterday, March 14th. Mercury was originally designed to mirror the original Mercury Lounge located in New York City. The high end decorations and classic urban motif, attract a high end clientele looking to unwind and network with some of the cities most exclusive socalites.
The nightclub is also renowned for hosting top tier DJ's and bands, focusing on quality over quantity. For years it has held its position on the grid of powerhouse club entertainment venues located on the strip. Celebrities from Derek Jeter, Shawn White, Steve-O, and Jerry Springfield, all pop their heads into Mercury during stints in C-town.
So it is quite fitting that the Mercury Lounge is the 2010 host of "Cleveland's Hotttest Bartender Competition". Beginning today on March 15th at midnight, and ending April 8th, this event is slated to bring out the who's who of local Cocktail Masters and Shot Specialists. The competition will showcase the most popular and attractive mixologists, based upon pollings tabulated and organized by Metromix.com. Adam Dru King, a Mercury resident promoter and bartender is one of the stand out competitors left in the final 16.
