Cleveland Heights native, Antoine Dunn is no stranger to the stage. He has performed throughout the states and abroad, touring with such artists as Anthony Hamilton, Musiq Soulchild, and Estelle. Dunn’s music videos have graced the lineup of BET and his songs are in regular rotation on Sirius. Yet somehow, Cleveland has managed to fall behind in their appreciation of this homegrown talent.

Thankfully, the tides seem to be shifting. Recently, Antoine has been found wooing audiences at venues throughout Cleveland. Last Wednesday he popped up as part of Brent Kirby’s 10x3 Songwriter Showcase at Brother’s Lounge. Backed by a full band, including a 3-piece horn section, he instantly won over the entire room, instigating an audience driven mutiny demanding he perform more than the intended three songs. When he sat down at the piano to share his new single—the powerful and personal, “I Am”—misty and emotional eyes filled the bar.

I Am Antoine Dunn | THE EXPERIENCE hits Cleveland State University’s Waetjen Auditorium this Friday, August 23rd. This celebration of music and life will finally provide Clevelanders an opportunity to understand the workings of Antoine Dunn. His heart and soul goes into every song he writes and erupts with passion and purpose on stage. This evening also highlights local musicians, with Alvin Frazier and Rachel Roberts preceding Dunn on stage.

But Friday night’s event reaches much deeper than just a bunch of great musicians performing on stage. Inspired by the courageous battle fought by Antoine’s mother, the evening is designed to support women currently waging their own war against breast cancer. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Cleveland’s Minority Women with Breast Cancer Uniting, Inc.

Great music and a great cause, there is no better way to spend a Friday night. Tickets range from $20 to $30. Show time is 7:30pm.
