Cleveland Public Theatre will be holding auditions for their 2015 production of “Dontrell, Who Kissed the Sea”. The auditions will take place on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and Friday August 22, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Callbacks will be on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from noon to 4:00 p.m. The auditions are by appointment only. Rehearsals for this production will begin on or around Monday, April 13th, 2015. Performances will be in the James Levin Theatre on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays at 7:00 p.m. May 20 through June 6, 2014. The production involves singing and movement with the cast required to function as an ensemble for such. While singing and movement experience is not a requirement for the audition, those actors with this experience are encouraged to audition.
About the play
The play is written by Nathan Davis and will be directed by Megan Sanberg-Zakian. Dontrell is just a month away from his first day as a freshman in college when he wakes up from a dream that will change his life. His journey begins with swimming lessons and ends with him in a boat drifting out to sea to meet his grandfather’s spirit. This World Premiere play concerns our connections to the past as well as living for the moment.

Actors may be asked to stay later than their scheduled audition time. Please share your conflicts for these dates when scheduling your audition.
Auditions are by appointment only and will be conducted in groups over a 1 hour period. Those auditioning must be prepared to stay for the full hour and may be asked to read sides.
You will be asked to present a prepared a 1 minute monologue from a play of your choosing or a prepared monologue from “Dontrell, Who Kissed the Sea”. If you prefer to audition with a monologue from “Dontrell”, please indicate so and what roles you will be auditioning for in your audition request e-mail.
