Cleveland Metroparks Zoo cures cabin fever with reduced winter admission prices
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is a true year-round experience – visit us this winter and see why
The leaves are just beginning to change colors and that signals that another winter in Cleveland is not far behind. This year instead of being cooped up in the house with your kids, why not take advantage of the reduced admission rates at the Zoo and bring the entire family for a visit.
Not only are the animals in the Zoo more active in the winter months, the Zoo provides complimentary heated transportation so you can avoid the chilly walk up to where the various animals are kept.
Beginning November 1 through March 31, 2014, admission is just $8.25 for adults and $5.25 for children ages 2 to 11 years old (children younger than two are free).
Take a brisk walk through the Zoo’s Northern Trek area to observe the bears, tigers, sea lions and wolves who just love when the temperature takes a drop. After your sub-freezing safari you can warm up at the Wolfe Wilderness Lodge in front of a roaring fire.
From here, head to the Primate, Cat and Aquatics Building (taking the heated trams of course) for a visit with the gorillas, snow leopards and sharks. Inside the Elephant Care and Visitor Center, the Zoo’s African Elephants, naked mole rats and African Rock Python are waiting to see you.
From here, head to the Sarah Allison Steffee Center for Zoological Medicine where you can learn all about the state-of-the-art care that the Zoo’s animals year long. You may even be able to witness a medical procedure being performed as it happens through the many viewing windows.
Next, head over for a visit to the GumLeaf Hideout in the Australian Outback section. Say g’day to the koalas and tree kangaroos in their cozy indoor exhibit. Lastly, top off your day of visiting with a tropical tour of the Rain Forest. It is always a comfortable 80 degrees inside and you can see a variety of animals including the orangutans and otters.
Northeast Ohio’s most-visited year-round attraction, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is $12.25 per person, $8.25 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children younger than 2 and Zoo members. Parking is free. Located at 3900 Wildlife Way, the Zoo is easily accessible from Interstates 71, 90 and 480.
