Shares 'Bear' Necessities Of Top Notch Care
Saturday, September 13, 2014 is a very special day at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. This date has been set aside for the annual Teddy Bear Day at the Zoo. Children ages 2 to 11 who bring their favorite teddy bear or plush toy of any kind with them to the Zoo will receive a free Zoo admission with a paid adult.
Guests will learn all about bears and what it takes to house and maintain on of North America’s largest bear collections. There will be special Teddy Bear Day activities from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. as parents and children will get information all about bears and how to take care of everything from a 500 pound grizzly bear down to your own fluffy little teddy bear.
We all know that it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to keep the bears happy and Meet the Keeper talks will provide visitors with opportunities to learn about bears’ diets, exercise regimens and daily training sessions. While at the Zoo, special “Plush Pet Vets” will be on hand to award your own stuffed friend a “Beary Good Health Certificate”.
There will be a special craft station where children and their stuffed toys can spend some special bonding time together before hiking up to Northern Trek to see the live bears that their fluffy friend was modeled after.
Also, don’t forget to take your stuffed toy for an exciting ride on the new Circle of Wildlife Carousel as you find which of the 64 hand-carved figures resembles their toy. It’s a wonderful time for you and your special friend but be sure to hold on tight during the ride.
Northeast Ohio's most-visited year-round attraction, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily with hours extended to 7 p.m. on weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
