An entire day of activities is planned for October 6
Did you know that the Cleveland Metroparks Ranger Department is a authorized police force with a police fleet, mounted police, K-9 Unit, Dive Team and Detective Bureau? Well, it’s time you did. Come join the community celebration to meet the Rangers and some of the friends they work with on a daily basis.
Cleveland Metroparks Ranger Department wants to meet you! To accomplish this they are hosting a FREE community Celebration on Sunday, October 6, 2013 from noon to 3:00 p.m. at Gordon Park in the Lakefront Reservation. It’s a great way for the entire family to come out and learn more about the Rangers Department that serves the Cleveland Metroparks.
There will be displays of Ranger Department equipment that they use to protect all 18 Cleveland Metroparks Reservations and the Zoo as well as the most popular programs set up for you to check out. There will also be safety agencies that the Department works hand in hand with including the U.S. Coast Guard, the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department and other local law enforcement departments as well. The community celebration will include lots of hands on activities for everyone.
"This event highlights the importance of establishing relationships with the citizens of Greater Cleveland and our community partners. Together we can be a part of making our great city's lakefront parks a destination for everyone to enjoy," said Interim Ranger Chief Dan Veloski.

On June 6, Cleveland Metroparks signed a historic long-term lease agreement with the City of Cleveland and the State of Ohio that transferred management of six lakefront parks to the Park District. Three of those parks, Edgewater Park, the East 55th Street Marina and Gordon Park, form the new Lakefront Reservation. Gordon Park is located at 8701 Lakeshore Blvd., in the Lakefront Reservation, north of I-90 near the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard exit. Additional parking is available at the East 72nd Street boat launch with a shuttle to the event site.
