One of the delights during the grey winter months of winter in the northeast Ohio area is to watch the various non-migratory birds feed at your backyard feeder. Cleveland Metroparks invites you to take this feeding to a much more personal level. For 50 years, Cleveland Metroparks has sponsored hand feeding stations at various locations. With Chickadees tending to feed one at a time due to a built in hierarchy governed by the most dominate birds, they will fly to your hand one at a time to pick one sunflower seed then fly off to enjoy the seed elsewhere.
Cleveland Metroparks is able to allow several opportunities to hand feed these curious and rather brave little black and white birds as well as seminars on how to set up your own backyard feeding stations for all local species of non-migratory birds.
