His body is scheduled to be claimed by his family said the Franklin Country coroner. Ariel Castro 53 a former school bus driver, was one month into a 1,000 year sentence for holding three young women captive in his home for ten years after repeatedly raping them and beating them when he committed suicide. He plead guilty to 937 counts including rape and kidnapping to avoid the death penalty.
The three young women were 14, 16 and 20 when they were kidnapped
Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight were rescued May 6, 2013 when Amanda Berry broke down the door with the help of a neighbor who heard the screams for help. Cleveland Kidnapper Ariel Castro had fathered a child with Berry, the little girl is six years old.
DeJesus commented, “Somebody would have killed him in prison or he would have committed suicide”
Investigation found Castro had repeatedly restrained the three young women to a pole in the basement, to a bedroom heater or inside a van. His charges against him were 512 counts of kidnapping, 446 counts of rape, 7 counts of gross sexual imposition, 6 counts of felonious assault, 3 counts of child endangerment and 1 count of possessing criminal tools.
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction has begun the investigation into the suicide death to determine if he received adequate care and medical treatment. He was in protective custody which means he was checked on every thirty minutes.
