Cleveland Indians spring notes: Tribe signs 11 to Major League deals

On Thursday, March 7, 2013, the Cleveland Indians announced they have signed 11 pre-arbitration players (0-3 years of MLB service and not eligible for salary arbitration) to one-year Major League contracts for the 2013 season.

Those players signed include:

RHP Cody Allen, OF Michael Brantley, INF Lonnie Chisenhall, OF Tim Fedroff, RHP Trey Haley, LHP TJ House, RHP Corey Kluber, RHP Zach McAllister, INF Chris McGuiness, RHP Danny Salazar, and RHP Bryan Shaw.

Brantley is the anticipated starter in left field after the team signed free agent center fielder Michael Bourn this offseason while Chisenhall is expected to man third base this upcoming season.

McAllister entered spring training as the favorite for the Indians fourth spot in the five-man rotation, however in three spring starts he has gone 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA. Justin Masterson, Ubaldo Jimenez, and Brett Myers have the first three spots in the rotation nailed down.
