Cleveland Indians spring notes: Raburn homers twice in 13-10 win over Reds

Ryan Raburn simply wants to make the Cleveland Indians’ 25-man roster as a utility player. He continued to make his plea with two home runs (three total this spring in as many at-bats) as the Indians defeated the Cincinnati Reds by the score of 13-10 on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013.

''Sometimes by the luck of the draw you might have a chance to get a guy like that,'' Indians manager Terry Francona said. ''Maybe we caught a break.''

Best of all, Raburn is comfortable in a myriad of positions including second, third, right or left field. That versatility may land him a spot on the team or his strong spring may enable the Indians to acquire starting pitching if he is unable to make the squad coming out of camp.

As for the other newcomers, starting pitcher Brett Myers allowed just two runs in two innings further solidifying his spot in the starting rotation.

Triple-A star Cord Phelps also homered for the Indians on Saturday.
