Bourn suffered the injury in the ninth inning of the final regular season game against the Minnesota Twins while attempting to steal second base. While injured, Bourn started and finished the American League Wild Card Game three days later against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Dr. Cooper performed a distral hamstring debridgement where the tendon attached behind Bourn’s left knee.
Bourn will recover at his home in Houston and begin his regular off-season training program in four to six weeks.
Bourn signed a four-year $48 Million deal with Cleveland this past February. Known as a speedy base-stealer in the National League with the Atlanta Braves, he stole just 23 bases this past season while being caught 12 times.
Overall, Bourn hit .263 with 21 doubles, six triples, six home runs, and 50 RBIs in 130 games.
