Hermida is a career .257 batter with 104 doubles, 65 home runs, and 250 RBIs in 632 Major League games. He played with the Florida (Miami) Marlins (2002-09), Boston Red Sox (2010), Oakland Athletics (2010), Cincinnati Reds (2011), and San Diego Padres (2011-12) organizations since being drafted as the 11th overall pick in the 2002 June draft by the Marlins.
Hermida spent the majority of the 2012 campaign on the disabled list with a strained adductor muscle and hip flexor. He bounced between the Major League Padres and their Triple-A affiliate Tucson.
With the addition of Hermida, the Indians have a total of 61 players in Major League camp including 21 non-roster invitees.
