On Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, the Akron Aeros, Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, announced they would begin work on a new privately funded HD video board project for the upcoming 2013 season at Canal Park.
The project includes the largest video board in Double-A baseball and an HD LED ribbon board display located in left center field.
“The video board is just part of our commitment to our fans and the city of Akron. We are obsessed about giving our fans the very best experience possible and this is one of many new enhancements Aeros’ fans can look forward to in 2013,” said Aeros’ owner Ken Babby.
The main video board will have a crisp and vibrant HD15 screen and an active display height of 25 feet and a width of 68 feet. The ribbon board will measure six feet high by 54 feet wide.
“This video board project is all about giving the fans in Akron the best entertainment in Northeast Ohio. We pride ourselves on providing affordable family entertainment and fans will certainly get their money’s worth this season with an unparalleled experience at the ballpark,” said Aeros general manager Jim Pfander.
The new video boards and corresponding equipment will give the Aeros a vast number of creative options for nightly promotions, in-game contests, and fan interaction while providing enhanced game information including displayed lineups and real-time statistical updates.
