Cleveland gunman 5-year-old: Gunman kills child, injures her mom before fleeing

A Cleveland gunman killed a 5-year-old girl and injured the girl's mother before speeding off and evading police. On Jan. 20, The Washington Post reported that police are seeking information about this gunman who shot and killed the child and shot her mother, 33-year-old Noni Brooks, in the head while the two were sitting in a car in a residential neighborhood.

"The two were shot Sunday night on Cleveland’s west side. Police said a man in a green SUV pulled up to their vehicle, got out and opened fire before fleeing," reports The Washington Post.

The Cleveland gunman who shot the 5-year-old and injured her mother may have known his victims because the shooting was very strange and sounded a bit planned. The victims' family released a statement and by what they requested, it sounds like someone may have known something about this shooting -- but police have not released any details about a motive in this case.

"The family would like privacy at this time during the mourning and loss of a beautiful child, Jermani Brooks, whose life was taken at such a young age. Please keep the family in your prayers for the recovery of her mother, Noni Brooks. If anyone knows the whereabouts of the person of interest PLEASE come forward," said the family in a statement.

More on the Cleveland gunman, the 5-year-old girl, and her mother -- who is still in the hospital but listen in "fair condition" in the video above.
