Cleveland boxers Willie ‘The Great’ Nelson and Eduardo Alicea will again be in the national spotlight this Friday night from Fallon, Nevada with junior middleweight contender Nelson in the main event. Alicea, a highly regarded prospect, will be featured on the undercard.
The event will broadcast live at 9 PM EDT on ESPN2’s ‘Friday Night Fights’.
After a short two month layoff Nelson (22-1-1, 13 KOs) is back in the ring looking for his seventh straight win as he continues his rise through the junior middleweight division.
Nelson is coming off a dominating first round TKO of Darryl Cunningham in early July. Currently Nelson is ranked fifth in the world by the World Boxing Council.
On Friday night, Nelson will face Luis ‘Slayer’ Grajeda in the 10 round main event. The 27 year old Grajeda (17-2-2, 13 KOs) is coming off a split decision draw back in May.
At 6’ 3” Nelson has a tactical advantage against most of his opponents but Grajeda is no slouch at 6’ 1”. The Mexican born Grajeda is a tough fighter whose only two loses have come in close decisions. He has yet to be stopped in his pro career. He will be looking for the upset on Friday night against Nelson.
Also, on Friday night promising young Cleveland middleweight prospect Eduardo Alicea (7-0, 3 KOs) will fight on the televised undercard against unbeaten Kirk Huff (3-0, 1 KO).
Alicea, 23, is back in the ring after only a six week layoff. He is coming off a dominating unanimous decision win.
Alicea, who had a decorated amateur career, is now co-promoted by DiBella Entertainment and works with world renowned trainer Robert Garcia. Alicea has all the tools and support to become champion.
