From Mike Brown’s return as coach to the debut of top pick Anthony Bennett, the Cavaliers gave fans something to cheer about in their win.
Tristan Thompson was the star of the game logging 17 points while going 7-for-10 from the floor and grabbing eight boards. Kyrie Irving added 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting while Dion Waiters picked up 12 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the floor.
Bennett showed some struggles in his pro debut as he went just 2-for-12 from the floor and recorded five personal fouls in just 22 minutes. In that span he was able to grab 10 rebounds and showed a tremendous amount of effort.
The biggest surprise of the night came from Kenny Kadji who picked up 15 points in less than 13 minutes.
Andrew Bynum, Tyler Zeller, and Alonzo Gee did not play for Cleveland in the game as Bynum continues to rehab his knee, Zeller is recovering from injuring his hip during the Wine and Gold Scrimmage, and Gee was resting a sore hamstring.
The Cavaliers will continue their preseason schedule on Friday as they face the Orlando Magic on the road.
