Cleveland Cavaliers rumors: Could LeBron James return to the Cavs in 2014? (Video)

On Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, Slam Online published a story stating the Cleveland Cavaliers may be saving cap space to make a run for LeBron James when he has the option to become a free agent in 2014.

The Cavaliers have been hoarding draft picks and making very few splashes during free agency since James' departure.

The rumor holds some weight as Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal stated:

“Executives and agents around the league are convinced the Cavaliers won’t do anything to jeopardize their ability to sign a free agent to a max contract during the summer of 2014, when LeBron James can again become a free agent. As fans in Northeast Ohio continue to howl and remain divided about the possibility of his return, more and more people around the league believe there is a strong possibility James will indeed return to Cleveland after next season.”

The idea of James returning to Cleveland certainly stirs up mixed feelings from the fan base. On one hand, James is viewed as a traitor who left a team that adored him to have a better shot at winning a championship with his buddies on the Miami Heat. On the other hand, the Cavaliers are in a much better position to win a championship of their own if James decides to return.
