Cleveland Cavaliers recap: Irving scores 35, Cavs beat Thunder 115-110

Kyrie Irving scored 35 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder by the score of 115-110 on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. With the win the Cavaliers improve to 14-34 on the season while the Thunder fall to 35-12.

In addition to Irving’s 35 points, Dion Waiters scored 12 points with six rebounds, six assists, and a pair of steals while Tristan Thompson added 11 points and 12 rebounds to lead the starters. Off the bench, Marreese Speights continued to demand attention with 21 points and 10 rebounds on the night. C.J. Miles also added 16 points off the bench for the Cavaliers.

Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 32 points and 11 rebounds while Russell Westbrook contributed 28 points in Oklahoma City’s losing effort. Serge Ibaka added 18 points and 12 rebounds while Kevin Martin led the bench effort with 15 points.

Head coach Byron Scott couldn’t be happier during the post-game press conference when he shared:

“A good win. As I said to the guys after the game, it’s amazing what happens when you play with energy. That’s what we’ve been looking for every single night. Just play with that type of energy and see what can happen… When you play with that type of energy, good things can happen, and we beat the best team in the league tonight.”
