Irving scored 33 points while Alonzo Gee added 15 to lead the Cavaliers in scoring in what came down to a team victory for Cleveland. Both Tyler Zeller and Tristan Thompson recorded a double-double each scoring 11 points. Thompson grabbed 14 boards on the night while Zeller picked up 12. Newly acquired Shaun Livingston added eight points and five assists off the bench.

Joe Smith had 17 points and eight rebounds while Jeff Teague added 15 points and eight assists for the Hawks. Zaza Pachulia finished the night with eight points and 10 boards.

“We talked before the game about just having fun. Just play hard. Let’s see what happens. Play hard, play together, and play smart, we can give ourselves the opportunity to win. I thought obviously we did all three of those things.” Coach Byron Scott said after the game during the press conference at Quicken Loans Arena.

Perhaps that is what the team has been missing for the majority of the season.
