Cleveland Cavaliers preview: Cavs take on Chicago Bulls at the United Center

The (8-27) Cleveland Cavaliers continue to rack up frequent flier miles as they head to Chicago to face off against the (18-13) Chicago Bulls on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST at the United Center.

Cleveland will be without the services of Anderson Varejao who remains sidelined with a right knee contusion, Daniel Gibson who is recovering from a concussion, and Luke Walton who has been excused from the game to attend to a personal matter. Chicago remains without superstar point guard Derrick Rose, however Kirk Hinrich is listed as day-to-day and will likely see minutes on the floor.

The contest will certainly be tough for the Cavaliers’ starting five, especially the frontcourt who are challenged with keeping up with Chicago’s Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer, and Joakim Noah. Alonzo Gee, Tristan Thompson, and Tyler Zeller have been playing solid basketball as of late, but they will need to maintain their intensity if Cleveland hopes to come away with a win on Monday.
