On Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, the Cleveland Cavaliers announced forward Tristan Thompson, guard Dion Waiters, and forward/center Tyler Zeller will join 2013 NBA Eastern Conference All-Star guard Kyrie Irving in Houston for All-Star Weekend.

Thompson, Waiters, and Zeller will participate in the 2013 BBVA Rising Stars Challenge. Participants are current rookies and sophomores selected by the NBA assistant coaches.
Thompson was the fourth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. This season he is averaging 11.0 points and 9.3 rebounds in 31.8 minutes per game.
Waiters was the fourth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. He is averaging 14.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 30.2 minutes per game.
Zeller was the 17th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. He is averaging 8.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.0 block in 27.8 minutes per game.
Finally Irving, who was selected as the top overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft is averaging 23.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in 35.7 minutes per game this season.

Internal growth with our young core is very important to us and this is a good reflection of their development,” said Cavaliers General Manager Chris Grant. “It is also great they will be able to experience this special All-Star weekend together and we look forward to seeing their continued hard work and progress.”
