Jones began the 2012-13 season with the Charge where he appeared in five games, averaging 23.6 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in 41.0 minutes per game. He had also recorded four double-doubles during that five game span.
With the Cavaliers, Jones has appeared in 15 games off the bench and is averaging 1.9 points and 1.5 rebounds in nine minutes per game.
Jones joined the Cavaliers as an undrafted free agent out of West Virginia. In 2011-12 with the Mountaineers he averaged 19.9 points and 10.9 rebounds in 28.3 minutes per game. Jones made his NBA debut on Dec. 7, 2012.
While the move says nothing about Jones’ skill set, the assignment is likely to give him more floor time rather than spending the majority of his time riding the Cavaliers’ bench.
